How to install TrimTXT

TrimTXT is delivered as a self extractable archive file or a "zipped" archive file, dependent of the rules of the download site.

Self extractable archive (.exe) file:

A self extractable archive file is an .exe file, which unpacs its content of files when you run the .exe file.

1. Create a directory for TrimTXT, e.g. c:\TrimTXT.
2. Move the trimtxtd.exe file to this directory.
3. Run the self-extractable trimtxtd.exe file.
4. Make it easily accesible:
• Windows 3.x/NT3-: install the TrimTXT.ico icon..
  1. In the Program Manager, select or create a suitable group.
  2. Install TrimTXT the usual way, using the build-in icon.
• Windows 95+/NT4+:
  Install a shortcut in a suitable group or on your desktop. The easiest way is ...
  1. Place your pointer where you want the icon.
  2. Click right mouse button, and select New and then Shortcut. Then follow the instructions

Zipped archive (.zip) file:

1. Create a directory for TrimTXT, e.g. c:\TrimTXT.
2. Move the TrimTXT .zip file to this directory.
3. Unpack the TrimTXT .zip file. For unzipping software, see below .
4. Make it easily accesible:
• Windows 3.x/NT3-: install the TrimTXT.ico icon..

Unzipping software:

Two examples (there are many others):

• Link to pkware for downloading the PKZIP shareware (DOS, Windows, OS/2) for conversion of the compressed zip-files to normal files (or vice versa).
• Winzip (shareware) from Nico Mak Computing Inc. May be downloaded from http://www.winzip.com/winzip/ and many other sources. Very user-friendly: integrates with Windows File Manager (Win 3.x) and Windows Pathfinder (Win 95). May be combined with the original PKZIP, ARJ, LHA and/or ARC software for even better performance.
