TrimTxT 1.0
Features
Main
features:
- TrimTxT removes undesired
NewLine (CR-LF = CarReturn+LineFeed) characters AND leading spaces from
.TXT files or from the TEXT content of the clipboard.
- Optionally, TrimTXT converts
the very disturbing codes like =20 or =FC to their correct characters
(here: space and ü), and removes "soft" line ending "="s. These codes
occurs in some e-mails, for in example e-mails generated by Novell GroupWise
4.1 on Windows NT.
- TrimTxT handles the ">"
characters (or other strings like RR>) marking "reply to" at the start
of some lines in e-mails. Multiple occurrences like ">> > " are
handled, too.
- TrimTxT strips off all
formatting codes (bold, italics, tab settings, etc.). This is sometimes
useful when converting texts from one programme to another. Here remains
of formatting codes sometimes makes a lot of problems, for example when copying
texts from MS Word or WordPerfect to PageMaker.
- After the conversion, you
can edit the text in TrimTxT.
- Even a number of non-PC
text formats are converted to proper PC formatted text.
- TrimTxT can convert HTML
(files or clipboard content) to clear text. It removes the HTML tags and
the randomly placed NewLines from an HTML formatted text, and inserts correct
NewLines on the proper places directed by the HTML tags, only. Bulleted and
numbered lists, etc. are handled, too. Optionally, it can insert formatting
guidelines ("tags") marked in {}, handling for example tables.
Special
features:
- If changing the options, the
original text is immediately restored and then converted with the new options
setting. This makes it possible to experiment with the options until you
have found the optimal conversion. By using the Marked text only mode you
can even use different options on different parts of the text.
- Lots of short-cuts like Ctrl-U
(= display the original text).
The converted text is placed
in the Windows clipboard, ready to be pasted into your application. You can
also save it to a file.
